well friends, i know it's been a while, but we finally have something worth sharing! yesterday, with less than 2 weeks remaining in training, we were given our site assignments for the next 2 years.
we are heading to orange walk district, in the northwest of the country (seems to be a theme for my peace corps assignments :). we will be in a moderately sized village (population ~3,000) about 3 miles outside of orange walk town. there are two primary schools there, a roman catholic and a pentecostal. there is little else that we actually know about our village at this point, but some highlights worth mentioning are:
there is electricity, running water, regular bus service to and from orange walk town, and even internet!
we will certainly post more as information comes. next wednesday we'll meet our future host family, who we will stay with until mid december, and also the principals of our schools. we'll be moving on up this month...around the 20th or so.
still trying to work out all the kinks with sharing photos on flikr...please be patient with me!

Hey guys, Its great to read about your adventures, good to hear that things are going well and you are enjoying life in Belize. Its been a while since we connected and I don't have your email addresses here at work so I just figured I would comment in, if you want to delete no worries. Amanda and I just got back from a two week road trip on the motorcycle out west. We made it as far as Idaho before having to turn around, lots of tent camping and plenty of state parks/beautiful scenery. Perhaps I'll end up getting photos on flickr. Anyway life at home is good, it is starting to cool down in Erie and the leaves are turning. The sailing is pretty much done for the year. This years first snow sighting was inside a volcanic splatter cone in Idaho probably left over from last winter so perhaps it doesn't count. There was hail while riding through the badlands in SD but then hail doesn't count. Thank you for sharing your lives and adventures. Much love,
