another week has passed and belize is quickly feeling more and more like home. last weekend we had the opportunity to spend the day visiting various beautiful places around cayo district. we started off the day in san ignacio, doing a bit of shopping and taking advantage of the internet services. then we hopped on a bus out toward benque (the border village near guatemala). we walked past xunatunich (an historical maya ruin site, which we will surely visit another time) to trek stop, a small herbal garden and butterfly farm. with over 600 species of butterflies in belize, the farm raises about 30 species, 12 or 13 of which we were able to see up close and personal. here are some highlights:
what more to say about the past week? we are staying happy and healthy and learning much about the belizean education system. we've visited the school twice this week and it has been a wonderful experience. the teachers are wonderful in our village, and eager to get feedback from us. we hope everyone at home is safe and healthy and we miss you all!

Yeah...I was thinking of putting a similar sound system in my car, but I couldn't get the trunk to shut properly.
Hey Melissa and Coy,
Mike and I have enjoyed reading your blog and seeing your pictures. You need to include yourselves in some! Sounds like you're having a great time so far.
Melissa, your mom gave me a cute haircut last week. She filled me in on what you guys are doing and we had a nice talk.
Just wanted to say "Hi" and let you know we're following your posts.
