it's been a little over a week since we arrived in our village and we have been brimming with excitement over nearly everything. the village is a short 15 minute bus ride from the town of san ignacio, which is home to the best market in the country (says everyone). we are living with two wonderful people and their two children. i would certainly say we are spoiled, with our electricity and running water. we enjoy beans and homemade tortillas everyday, and even get treated to fresh avocado. our new mother makes us fresh juice (lime, orange, soursap?) to accompany our delicious lunches. we are occupying the master bedroom, with an enormous bed (anyone need a place to sleep? we've got room!)
i am amazed with the efficiency of public transportation and the availability of goods even in the village. and what you can't get at home is only a short bus ride away!
unfortunately for our spanish ambitions, our family speaks flawless english, and we are far more interested in getting to know them than we are in practicing a second language!
