the belizean breeze

due to our somewhat erratic schedule as of lately, it's been a bit of a challenge to find time to sit down and write an official update. we've been back and forth between our new village and belmopan several times over the past two weeks. tomorrow is our swearing in ceremony, when we will official graduate from "trainees" to "volunteers." we're looking forward to the celebration with other volunteers, and also one last chance to see our host family from cristo rey. it's only been two weeks since we left our training village, but already seems like ages ago. before moving on to bombarding you all with information and anecdotes about our new home, i'd like to share a few beautiful images from our time in cristo rey. these photos barely begin to highlight the amazing landscape we were surrounded by at the home of jeff and elsie. additionally, please pay particular attention to the fabulous shade of pink that occurs naturally here in such abundance. i love it!

the home where we stayed is nestled back there, amidst the fantastic flowers and lush green leaves of all this great foliage.

while we are missing the amazing landscaping of our previous host family and the luscious hills of the west, we are quickly falling in love with our new home in orange walk district. one of the most delicious perks of our new home is the constant breeze that circulates the warm caribbean air all day and night. the abundant fruit trees and general tranquility of the village follow closely in terms of lovability. i hope to identify a trusty internet cafe in orange walk town in the very near future so that i can regularly update and share more specific info with you all. we are very happy with our new village, being completely spoiled with the new host family, and just loving everything about life right now.
