and we wait...

we've officially spoken with both our peace corps placement officer and screening nurse today and been informed that we just need to be patient. after 14 months of waiting, that's a rather difficult request to swallow. but as many of you know, coy and i have the additional special status of having a medical restriction, which makes it even more complicated to find a proper assignment for us. apparently our nurse has been contacting medical officers in several countries (5, actually) to see if they can accommodate our medical "needs." so far no one can. she's waiting to hear back from one more country. if they say no, we probably won't be out of here before june.

it's startlingly difficult to think of anything BUT peace corps these days, but there's really nothing i can do to expedite this process. i've tried to turn my frustration into productive energy, and that works sometimes. however, i've already completed most of the tasks on my "things to do before we leave the country" excel spreadsheet. that's right, i created a spreadsheet. you can laugh, it won't hurt my feelings.

in the meantime, we wait. one would think after 2 years in zambia i'd be pretty good at waiting. one would think.

anyway, i try to keep myself busy with work and ESL classes. we made cookies last week and they rocked! here are some pictures of my students. we have a blast together.

it was the first time most of them had ever made cookies.

thank goodness for the timer option. do i look like the coolest teacher ever, or what?

i know teachers aren't supposed to have favorites, but these two are such rockstars.
