crooked tree
our weekend getaway at crooked tree was absolutely amazing, and a must see for any bird lovers out there. we managed to squeeze in 3 separate walking bird tours into our busy weekend of lounging. touring with a guide was well worth the small fee, as he was able to point out birds we never would have noticed, or seen without the help of his trusty scope. we did in fact view several jabiru storks, as well as wood storks, egrets, buzzards, kingfishers, flycatchers, terns, doves, kiskadees, hummingbirds, wood rails, and many more whose names have already escaped me. it was a bird lover's paradise. we highly recommend crooked tree lodge, where we were treated like royalty by mick and angela.

this is allegedly the crooked tree which gives the village its name.
local belizean cashew fruits are a bit smaller than the brazilian ones, less stringy, and a bright yellow color.
these yellow ones taste delicious!
