ode to iguanas

iguanas are actually miniature dinosaurs, i am convinced. many of you are already aware of my admiration for all lizards, but the iguana takes it to the next level. because the world is such a wonderful place, there happens to be a pair of iguanas living in the lopez’s storage shed. indeed friends, every time i unlock the door to retrieve my bike i hear a desperate scrambling, as the iguanas make a mighty (but not so graceful) dash for cover. i chuckle to myself as i look up and see a scaly tale poking out from inside the cinder blocks, where the ancient lizard is hiding.

on a more sociable day, this one actually posed quite nicely.

iguanas in your backyard are pretty awesome. a green iguana in the middle of a dusty road in a belizean mennonite village has got to be the work of some higher power. let’s be real. it’s beyond awesome. here’s that photo i promised.
